When is the best time to visit?

Kenya is a year-round destination, but the great river crossings of the Mara typically occur July through October. January–February is calving season in the southern reserves — newborn wildebeest, predators in abundance. The coast is loveliest December through March. We will recommend the right window the moment we know your dates.

Do I need a visa? What about vaccinations?

Accepted Answer

Most nationalities apply for an electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) before arrival — straightforward and inexpensive. We will guide you through it. Yellow fever vaccination is required if arriving from a risk country. Malaria prophylaxis is recommended for safari areas; consult your travel doctor 4–6 weeks before departure.

Is Kenya safe?

Yes. The areas we operate in — the Mara, Samburu, Laikipia, the highlands, the coast and Lamu — are well-trodden, carefully managed, and we have been working with the same drivers, guides, and lodge owners for years. Your trip director is on the ground for the duration of your journey.

What does a Solana journey actually cost?

Our published from-prices are per person sharing, in USD, and reflect a typical itinerary at the Solana Signature tier. Bespoke modifications — additional days, premium camps, helicopter transfers, photographer tier — are quoted transparently in your proposal. We do not work below USD 600 per person per night on the ground.

Will I share a vehicle with strangers?

No. Every Solana journey includes a private 4×4 game-drive vehicle and a TRA-licensed lead guide who is yours alone for the duration of the safari. No shared schedules, no unfamiliar travel companions.

Question 6

What are your payment terms?

Accepted Answer

A 30% deposit confirms your reservation. The balance is due 60 days before departure. We accept bank transfer, Visa and Mastercard (3% surcharge). All payments are protected by full professional indemnity and bonding through KATO.

Question 7

What if I need to cancel?

Accepted Answer

Cancellation more than 90 days before departure: full refund less a USD 250 administration fee. 60–90 days: 30% retained. 30–60 days: 60% retained. Inside 30 days: 100% retained. We strongly recommend comprehensive travel and cancellation insurance — we can recommend providers.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements, children, or accessibility needs?

Accepted Answer

Almost always, yes. Tell us during the consultation — kosher, halal, vegan, severe allergies, mobility constraints, age-specific programmes for children. Our chefs and camps adapt; we plan around the human, not around the menu.
